Region 8: Lake Cities
The "Lake Cities", situated around Lake Ray Hubbard, include Garland, Rowlett and Rockwall.
Lake Ray Hubbard is the largest lake in the area and offers lots of water sports like fishing, boating,
sailing and water skiing. An old authentic paddle boat takes dinner cruises on the lake. The Harbor
is a big entertainment area being built along the shore, offering restaurants, shops, a hotel, civic center,
and movie theater.
Rowlett

Rowlett boomed in the 1970 with the completion of Lake Ray Hubbard. By the new millennium, it was a thriving community
with a majority of the population being young professionals who commuted to Dallas area jobs. Lots of family activity
is available through the Community Centre, The Wet Zone Water Park, and Waterview Golf Club. Planned communities offer
residents swimming pools, tennis courts, and even water parks of their own! Plenty of new home construction for all
types of families at $120,to $300,000.

Rockwall

Rockwall has the distinction of being the smallest county in Texas and one of the fastest growing counties in the United States.
Rockwall is the home of The Harbor entertainment area and many up scale communities; two with golf courses and one with a yacht club.
Kids enjoy the skateboard park, spray park, and fishing park in the older area of the city. Rockwall is a town of vibrant new
construction and old tradition with its historic town square and turn of the century homes. New home construction starts at about

Garland

Garland's Firewheel Town Center |
Garland is the second largest city in Dallas County and has continually grown since the beginning of the 20th century.
Economically, it has been a center for light manufacturing for the past 60 years. The downtown area is now undergoing redevelopment,
to create a unique, active urban streetscape; a mixed-use cultural arts district; adding new residential infill development; and
establishing pocket parks and landscape features to provide amenities and interim destinations throughout downtown. Garland
supports theatre, symphony, and dance performances at The Patty Granville Arts Center Garland, and owns Firewheel Golf Park, one
of the finest municipally-managed golf courses in
the area. New housing may be found along the new George Bush Turnpike (I-190), with new homes ranging
