Region 4: The Mid-Cities

Mid Cities separating Fort Worth and Dallas are Grand Prairie and Arlington. Both Interstate 30 and Interstate 20 pass through these cities. The University of Texas at Arlington is a major employer in this area.

Arlington


The Ballpark at Arlington

Arlington is spelled "F-U-N!" The Ballpark at Arlington, Six Flags Over Texas, and Hurricane Harbor, provide entertainment for both Tarrant and Dallas counties. It's also the home of the University of Texas at Arlington, and the future home of the Dallas Cowboys. "F-U-N" can be found between the low $100s to upwards of $1.5 million.

Grand Prairie

Grand Prairie has Mountain Creek Lake to the east and a portion of Joe Pool Lake to the south. Settlers arrived in the area just before the Civil War. After World War I, Grand Prairie became a center for aviation, and aircraft manufacturing remains a primary businesses. It's also the home of the new Lone Star Park for horse racing. You can find new homes at $115,000 to $500,000.

Hurst, Euless and Bedford


Weekend carnival in H-E-B

H-E-B is short for Hurst, Euless and Bedford, three cities just south of the airport in Tarrant County. Closely aligned in location and joined together by the HEB School District, this area had a tremendous growth spurt in the 70's and 80's. Families were moving out from Fort Worth seeking small town atmosphere. $130,000 to $320,000 is the starting price for homes in this area.

Mansfield


Located south of Arlington, Mansfield offers rolling terrain and unspoiled vistas. If you stand at the crest of any knoll, you will see new homes in every direction. With convenient access to major highways and interstates, Mansfield is a popular bedroom community for Arlington and Fort Worth. It is a high growth area of homes priced in the middle of the market at about $123,000 to $250,000.
