Region 6: North Dallas County
Dallas is more modern and bustling with commercial activity at the World Trade Center.
First established as a ferry crossing for the Trinity River, Dallas became a transportation and
manufacturing center. Dallas' fashion trade sprang from the time when "cotton was king".
Banking, finance, and technology all thrive here.
North Dallas was where the growth took place after the 50's. NorthPark Center, located at I-75 and
Park Lane, was on the edge of Dallas in 1965.
The region's higher education needs are served by Southern Methodist University, Brookhaven College, the University
of Texas at Dallas, and Richland College.
